With reference to my Confidential

Despatch of the 18th. ultimo, I have the honour to trans-

-mit for Your Lordship's information copy of a private

letter received from His Majesty's Charge d'Affaires at

Peking on the subject of the proposed Working Agreement

for the Canton-Kowloon Railway, and of my reply to the

#ame also copy of a Despatch received from Mr.

MaxMuller

in which he encloses copy of the communication he has made

to the Wai Wa Pu. I shall await the answer of the Wai Wu

Pu before addressing you further on this subject.

-forming Your Lordship that Mr. Wei Han's resignation

of his appointment as Managing Director of the Chinese

Section has been accepted. I have not been informed of

the appointment of a successor or of the nomination of a

successor to Mr. Wei Han as Chinese representative for
